Vickie Schray is a certified professional business coach with over 25 years of leadership experience in the public and private sectors.  She is an innovative, solutions-focused executive with multifaceted experience in communications management, public and media relations, regulatory and government affairs, policy development, brand development, and strategic planning. Demonstrated expertise in aligning resources to support company priorities, as well as leading organizational improvement and transformational efforts at local, regional, state, and national level. Leverages exemplary leadership and communication skills to maintain high-level strategic relationships, deliver complex information, and build consensus to influence public policy and advance business interests.
Most recently, she served as EVP and Chief External Affairs Officer, at Zovio (formerly Bridgepoint Education) a publicly traded company and was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to position the company as a trusted leader and manage external relationships and communication with a diverse set of stakeholders. She oversaw Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Regulatory and Government Affairs and Public Policy.  During her tenure she designed and executed a comprehensive campaign to support the transformation and relaunch of Bridgepoint Education to Zovio, which included new business model, moving headquarters, relocating employees, and rebranding with a national audience.
Vickie has also served in a variety of leadership positions at the US Department of Education including Deputy Director for the Secretary of Education’s Commission on the Future of Higher Education, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Office of Postsecondary Education and was delegated the authority to serve as the Under Secretary of Education and Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education.  As a leader with the federal government, she led several organizations which included responsibility for an appropriation of over $3 billion. Her extensive experience includes developing public policy and regulations to implement new legislation, designing and leading large-scale reform and transformation initiatives at the federal, state and local level, and utilizing her communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders and build strong coalitions.
